Description
This heavy-duty pneumatic rivet buster is built for demanding industrial applications where maximum impact and reach are required. With an 11″ stroke length and a low blow-frequency (~850 bpm), it delivers massive impact energy to break and remove large rivets, embedded anchors, structural bolts, and other heavy-duty fasteners.
The bore size of approx. 1 3/16″ ensures efficient energy transfer, and the longer overall length (~25.5″) gives the operator exceptional reach for large structural components or overhead areas. At roughly 33 lbs, the tool strikes a balance between brute force and manageable operation in heavy-duty work zones.
The open handle (pistol-grip) configuration offers better maneuverability and operator control in many jobsite conditions, especially when working in more accessible positions or when the tool needs to be oriented for clearance. The open-handle design also may allow easier tooling angles and faster change-out of accessories.
This model is designed to integrate into typical industrial air-supply systems and to withstand rigorous field use, supported by the Champion Chisel brand reputation for quality and durability.
Features & Benefits
-
Massive 11″ stroke for ultimate rivet-busting capacity in the heavier classes of jobs
-
High energy per blow (low frequency) which gives more “bite” per stroke compared to high-bpm tools
-
Robust bore (1 3/16″) ensures strong impact transfer and durability in heavy use
-
Open handle / pistol-grip design for improved maneuverability, faster operator positioning, and better clearance in many job setups
-
Built for heavy-duty environments (shipyards, structural steel fabrication/repair, large rivet removal)
-
Compatible with standard industrial compressed-air setups (½″ inlet, ~44-50 cfm @ 90 psi)
-
Built by Champion Chisel in the USA, backed by parts & accessories support and a heritage of pneumatic tool manufacturing
Ideal Applications
-
Removal of large structural rivets in steel-construction, bridges, ship-building, or heavy fabrication
-
Extraction or demolition of embedded anchor bolts, oversized pins, or critical fasteners in infrastructure projects
-
Heavy maintenance/demolition tasks in industrial sites: power plants, refineries, rail/highway structures
-
Jobs requiring a tool with longer reach and high blow-energy where conventional breakers or hammers would struggle or be too heavy
-
Situations where operator control and maneuverability (via the open-handle design) is advantageous (e.g., awkward angles, overhead work, confined spaces)
Operational Guidance
-
Ensure your air compressor or supply system can deliver ~44-50 cfm at 90 psi (or more) for optimal performance.
-
Use appropriate hose size and avoid pressure drop — the tool’s performance depends on maintaining air pressure & flow.
-
Regular lubrication and maintenance improve performance and longevity: use recommended line oiler or rock-drill oil, check fitting & hose conditions.
-
Operators should wear proper PPE: hearing protection (impact tools are loud), eye protection (flying debris), gloves and long sleeves.
-
Inspect tool after heavy use or high-impact work for wear or damage (especially chisel retention, sleeves, barrels). Replace worn consumables or parts promptly to maintain safety and performance.
-
Choose the right chisel or bit for the job: this tool uses “jumbo”-shank tooling for large-scale rivet busting, so use compatible accessories to take full advantage of the hammer’s power.
